For decades, our feisty skunk mascot, Polecat Pete, has been stinkin’ up the scene in the best possible.

He’s more than just a mascot—he’s our ambassador of moxie. With his boxing gloves on and chest out, Pete’s always been ready to fight for what’s right (and for the last bag of jerky). His confident swagger, quick wit, and fearless attitude remind us that this brand was built on hustle, humor, and a little bit of harmless mischief.

You’ll find Pete everywhere—from our signs to our snacks—because he is the personality of Stinker. He’s our spark. Our punchline. Our rally cry. And he’s been standing tall for years, making sure we never forget to have fun, stand out, and always raise a positive stink.

Check out what he's become over the years...

Our purpose...

Making our world a better place,
one employee, one customer, one community at a time
by being a bright spot in the lives we touch.

It all started with a "Real Stinker" in Twin Falls...

Back in 1936, Farris Lind rolled into Twin Falls, Idaho, with a tank full of grit, a sharp sense of humor, and just enough coin to open one humble gas station.

But Farris wasn’t your average fuel pumper—he was a bold, competitive firecracker who knew how to grab attention. With a wink and a grin, he earned himself the nickname “Stinker”—a title he wore with pride and a whole lotta mischief.

Farris turned heads across the Northwest with clever, cheeky roadside billboards that had travelers laughing all the way to his pumps. He wasn’t just selling gas—he was building a brand that stood for something bigger: tenacity, charm, and a fierce dedication to customers.

That single station in Twin Falls sparked the scrappy spirit that still fuels Stinker today. From one little location to over a hundred stores across Idaho, Colorado, and Wyoming, Farris’ legacy lives on every time Polecat Pete flashes that sly grin.

The new owners:
"Keeping up with the Jones'"

Today Stinker continues to embrace that same lighthearted personality and scrappy attitude, under the stewardship of the Charley and Nancy Jones family.

Since November 2002, they have added their energy and senses of humor to further develop the iconic Stinker brand. Like Farris, Charley had a “bigger than life” personality and charm.

Since his passing in 2024, Nancy has taken on the role of directing Stinker’s next chapter. Sons Nikolaus and Charley (“Duncan”) plan to become active Stinkers after each finishes his service in the US Army.

Community

At Stinker, we believe in being a Bright Spot in every community we serve. With 93 stores across Idaho, Colorado, and Wyoming, our purpose goes far beyond fuel and snacks—we’re here to lift spirits, lend a hand, and spark hope where it’s needed most.

From direct donations to hands-on service projects to companywide fundraisers, our team and customers show up with heart, grit, and plenty of moxie. We proudly support three major annual campaigns that help change lives in the places we call home:

Piece of Hope edit.png

Pieces of Hope

Pieces of Hope focuses on supporting individuals—primarily women and children—who are impacted by domestic violence. We partner with high-impact organizations in each of our states that provide essential services such as emergency hotlines, safe shelter, legal support, childcare, after-school programs, counseling, food assistance, and trauma-recovery resources. We are deeply grateful for these partners and the courageous work they do. Thanks to them, countless individuals and families find safety, stability, and hope!

Folds of Honor

Through Folds of Honor, Stinker stands with the families of America’s fallen or disabled heroes. Since 2007, this organization has provided life-changing educational scholarships to the spouses and children of military members—and now, first responders as well. Together, we honor their sacrifice and ensure these families know they are never forgotten.

Stomp Out Hunger

Food insecurity affects thousands of people in every state we serve. Through Stomp Out Hunger, Stinker partners with the Idaho Foodbank, Food Bank of the Rockies, and Food Bank of Wyoming to help provide nutritious meals to those who need them most. These organizations work with local food pantries and

partners to create the widest reach and greatest impact possible. We’re honored to support them as they deliver hope one meal at a time.
