Farris Lind, founder of Stinker Stores, began very modestly with one station in 1936 at Twin Falls, Idaho. From the start he showed his fierce independent nature and humor by choosing the skunk as his emblem and name. He declared his independence and freedom from the major oil companies by selling gasoline for less money and passing the savings on to the customer.

Over the years, travelers would be amused and intrigued by his famous highway signs. Messages like "Sheepherders headed for town have right of way" or Idaho is full of beautiful, lonely women", greeted drivers along the highway.
Recent History
In 2002 the Lind and Johnson families decided to retire and sell their family business. In November of that year, Local Boise businessman Charley Jones and long term Stinker employee Shawn Davis decided to form a partnership and purchase the Stinker Stores and related business interests of the Farris Lind family. WestPoint Transportation and Arrowrock Supply are affiliated businesses owned and managed by Stinker.
Since the November 2002 purchase, Stinker has closed some under performing stores and added five retail sites. The company is actively looking to build and acquire new retail locations. Stinker is aggressively looking to promote and market alternative energy sources such as E-85 fuel and Bio Diesel. This is a natural progression for a company that has been a leader in marketing (Ten Percent Ethanol blended fuel) for over twenty five years.
